The cards

Do you really write the message by hand?

Yes, in pen. You type your message once when you add someone and we copy it into the card. We do not use a font that imitates handwriting โ€” if you have ever received one you know it fools nobody.

Can I change the message later?

Any time, up until we buy the card. After that the message is locked to what was on the card when it was prepared, and your edit applies to next year instead.

Do I get to see the exact card first?

Not in this version. You choose a style and we choose a card within it. If a card ever misses the mark, tell us and we will make it right.

What if I want to send a card for something other than a birthday?

Not yet. Right now every seat covers one birthday card a year. Anniversaries and other occasions are on the list.

Timing

When does the card actually go out?

10 days before the birthday. That is early enough to absorb a slow week at the post office without arriving so early it looks odd.

I just signed up and a birthday is next week. What happens?

We need 10 days' notice. If someone's birthday falls inside that window, we tell you as you add them and their first card goes out next year. That one is on you this time.

What about birthdays that already passed this year?

They simply start next year. You are paying for a seat on your list, not for a specific number of cards this calendar year, so nothing is wasted.

What happens with February 29?

In non-leap years we mail it for February 28.

Plans and billing

What exactly am I paying for?

A seat on your list. Each person in a seat gets one card a year โ€” bought, written, stamped and mailed. There are no credits to track and nothing expires.

My list is 14 people and the plans are 12 and 24.

Add extra seats to the smaller plan for $9 per person per year. You should never have to jump a whole tier for one aunt.

Can I try it without paying?

Yes. The free plan holds up to 10 people and emails you before each birthday. You mail the card yourself. Upgrade whenever you would rather not.

What if I cancel?

Your list stays where it is and drops back to free reminders. Cards we have already bought still go out โ€” you paid for those.

What if a payment fails?

We email you and keep your cards queued while we retry. If it stays unpaid we pause the mailing rather than quietly deleting anything.

Addresses and privacy

What do you do with my family's addresses?

Address one envelope a year. Nothing else. We do not sell them, rent them, or use them for marketing, and your recipients never get email from us.

How are they stored?

Street addresses are encrypted in the database with AES-256. City, state and ZIP are left readable so we can plan postage, which on their own do not identify a household.

Can I delete someone?

Yes, and it removes their address with them. Closing your account deletes the whole list the same way.

What if the address is wrong?

If a card comes back undeliverable we will tell you and reship once free after you correct it.
